Born about 1848, she married a Mr. Livingston at the beginning of the Civil War and had no children. Her father Peter served as a Michigan representative of Mackinac Island for two terms, beginning in 1858. He was appointed as the lighthouse keeper of Harbor Point, Beaver Island in 1859. When he had health problems a year later, his two youngest daughters ran the lighthouse.
