The Moravian Church in America settled a community in Northampton County, Pennsylvania between 1741 and 1745. Later, during the winter of 1755-56, this Nazareth community sheltered many fugitive settlers fleeing the Indian invasion of upper Northampton County. The earthquake of 1755 in Lisbon is also chronicled here.
