Mann, Rowena Morse, 1870-1958.
Unitarian minister and lecturer, Mann received a B.S. from the University of Iowa in 1891, studied at the University of Chicago Divinity School, 1898-1900, and the University of Berlin, 1900-1903, and in 1904 was the first woman to receive a Ph.D. from the University of Jena. She had parishes in Illinois and Iowa, was director of the West Unitarian Conference, 1912-1916, lectured in favor of the Treaty of Versailles, the League of Nations, and Democratic Party candidates, and against Nazism and German militarism, and was considered for a diplomatic post in 1933. In 1912 she married Newton Mann, also a Unitarian minister.
