Rolla Floyd followed Reverend George J. Adams to Palestine in 1866 in search of a better, richer life than was available in the United States following the difficult years after the Civil War. After the first two years in Palestine Rolla Floyd and his wife started corresponding regularly with his sister and her husband, Aurilla Floyd and Abijah W. Tabbutt of Columbia Falls, Maine. Rolla and Aurilla were two of five children born and raised on Mitten Mountain, Centerville, Maine.
