Savage, William, 1832-1908.
Savage was born in England and moved with his family to New York by 1840. In 1855, when the railroad reached the Mississippi River at Burlington, Iowa, he moved with his wife and infant son to Iowa. He purchased a farm in Van Buren County where he remained for the rest of his life. Savage was distinguished by his interest in painting the birds that he observed and for the extensive diary that he kept.
