J. A. Gardner
J. A. Gardner was born in 1921 and educated at Cuthbert's Preparatory School; Bromsgrove School; and Brasenose College, Oxford. After military service (1941-1945), he entered the Colonial Service in Kenya. He held the posts of District Officer (1946), District Commissioner (c.1961-1962), Senior District Commissioner (1962), and Administrative Secretary (1963-1965).
