Gremillion, Jack P. F.
Jack Paul Faustin Gremillion earned a law degree from LSU and served with the infantry in Europe during World War II. He was highly active in Louisiana politics, particularly with the Long faction, and served as Attorney General of Louisiana between 1956 and 1972.

Jack Paul Faustin Gremillion, Sr. (1914-2001) was born in Donaldsonville, La., of French-speaking parents, received his law degree from Louisiana State University, received a Purple Heart for his service in World War II, served as a Democratic attorney general of Louisiana from 1956 to 1972, and encountered legal troubles resulting in being charged with contempt of court during a New Orleans school desegregation case, mail fraud, conspiracy and fraud in the sale of securities. He was sentenced to three years in federal prison, serving fifteen months in Florida. He was pardoned by Gov. Edwin Edwards in 1976, returning to private life and his law practice. Jack Gremillion and his wife, Doris McDonald Gremillion (1920-1989) had four sons and a daughter.
