Margaret Church was born April 8, 1920, in Boston, MA. Education: Radcliffe College, A. B., 1941, Ph.D., 1944; Columbia University, A. M., 1942. She was an instructor in English at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, 1944-46, and Duke University, Durham, NC, 1946-53; Purdue University, Lafayette, IN, assistant professor, 1953-61, associate professor, 1961-65, professor of English, beginning 1965. Editor of Modern Fiction Studies. The Margaret Church MFS Memorial Prize was established in 1984 in memory of Dr. Church, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Purdue University. She died in 1982.
