Green, the second oldest of five children, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on the fifteenth of September 1980. Six months following his birth, Green and his family moved to Irvine, California where Green thus spent the majority of his childhood. As a senior in high school, Green's family moved to Alpine, Utah, where Green eventually graduated. As a child, Green cultivated a love for cinema, in particular the writing of scripts. Attending Brigham Young University, Green majored in English in order to cultivate his creative writing abilities.
