Louis Dienes, 1885-1974, MD, 1908, University of Budapest, was appointed bacteriologist and Director of the Diagnostic Bacteriology Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital in 1930. Dienes was the first investigator to identify mycoplasma in human pathologic material, and also the first to recognize that "tuberculin-type sensitivity" characterized the specific immune response in tuberculosis.
