Marsh M. Corbitt was born around 1891 in Iowa. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1917, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, worked for U.S. Steel Corp., served as president of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and the International Delta Upsilon Fraternity. His wife, Eleta Abrams Corbitt, was the daughter of William Luen Abrams and the great-granddaughter of Sarah Levina Abrams.
