Banker and businessman, of Cottage Grove, Or.; b. in Pleasant Hill, Or., to Lane County pioneers William W. and Elizabeth (Coffey) Bristow. After receiving a B.A. degree from the University of Oregon in 1884, he began his career as businessman and banker. In 1884, with Herbert Eakin, he established Eakin & Bristow, a general merchandising business in Cottage Grove. Later they organized the First National Bank of Cottage Grove. Bristow and Frank Chambers founded the Chambers-Bristow Banking Co., which was later consolidated with the First National Bank of Eugene. With the merger, Bristow became vice-president and chairman of the board. He was mayor of Cottage Grove for five terms and later served as councilman and treasurer for the City of Eugene.
