Emlen Wood was born on 27 February 1889. He received an M.D. in veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 1916. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Pennsylvania Calvary Unit and was a member of the Mexican Border Service. During World War I, he served as a Captain in the Veterinary Division of the U.S. Army 28th Division. After the war, Wood took up residence in Charleston, S.C. and became the Assistant State Veterinarian for South Carolina. No information beyond 1922 could be found for Emlen Wood.
