Henry James Hudson (1821-1901), one of eight children of John Rogers and Hannah (Balch) Hudson, was born in Newburyport, Mass., on 29 June 1821. He graduated from Harvard in 1843 and from its Divinity School in 1847, and was a Unitarian minister in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Southington, Conn. Hudson also held an interest in organ design, and along with Henry Ward Poole and Joseph Alley, invented an euharmonic organ. Hudson died in 1901.
