Hermann, William Stine, 1909-1992

William Stine Hermann was born in Pennsylvania in late 1909, the son of A. Jerome and Carrie Stine Hermann. After graduating from Susquehanna University, he returned to Middleburg to teach at the local high school, where he also coached several sports teams and served as a referee for soccer, basketball, and baseball. His attempt to join the United States Navy's Office of Naval Officer Procurement in 1944 was unsuccessful, and he returned to school at Bucknell College in either 1944 or 1945. He and his wife, Marion Madeline Steininger, had three children: Nancy Lee (m. Snook), Michael J., and Neil A. (Tony). William Stine Hermann died on May 19, 1992.
