Merritt, Richard Lee, 1922-
Variant namesRichard Lee Merritt was born in Missoula, Montana, in 1922. He served in the military during World War II and graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula (then called Montana State University) in 1948 with a degree in English. He retired in 1977 after serving 23 years as a librarian for the San Francisco Examiner. His wife, Gertrude, a medical librarian, died in 1971.
