In 1898, Ward and Carleton, architects and surveyors, were at Lincoln Chambers, 341 Collins St, Melb. Alfred E.H. Carleton (d. 1936) was practising alone by 1913. Charles Richard Carleton (d. 1953) returned from the war and became his father's partner, 1919. They moved to New Zealand Chambers, 483 Collins St, 1923. Charles moved to 'Vaughan', 108 Queen St, 1938. He joined the Corps of Aust. Engineers, 1942. The practice resumed as Carleton and Henderson at 346 Swanston St, 1946, moving to Lancaster House, 18 Queens Rd, South Melb., 1953. Henderson took on John Butler as partner and Stanley Korvin as associate, 1956. Henderson, Butler and Korvin was formed 1963 and dissolved 1965. Henderson worked from Queens Rd, 1965-77. Born 1901 in South Melb., he attended University High School and trained with William Pitt and Walkley, 1917-24. He practised from home at 7 Prospect Gve, Northcote, 1924-46, and worked occasionally for Carleton, 1927- He served in World War II as a Major in the Corps of Aust. Engineers.
