The Communist Party, USA opened its New York Workers School in October 1923.
Students were provided with an education aligned with the Party's goals, emphasizing an understanding of Marxism and an awareness of affiliated organizations involved in the American communist movement. By 1927, the School offered a wide array of courses in Marxist theory and the history of the American working classes, taught by David Saposs, Floyd Dell, Arthur C. Calhoun, John Dos Passos, and others. In 1944 the School was incorporated into the Jefferson School of Social Science.

The Communist Party, U.S.A. opened its New York Workers School at 48-50 East 13th St. in October 1923. Students were provided with an education aligned with the Party's goals, emphasizing an understanding of Marxism and an awareness of affiliated organizations involved in the American communist movement. By 1927, the School offered a wide array of courses such as "History of the American working class," "Fundamentals of communism," and "Labor journalism," taught by David Saposs, Floyd Dell, Arthur C. Calhoun, John Dos Passos, and others. In 1944 the School was incorporated into the Jefferson School of Social Science.
