Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla.
Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla was created in Tampa in 1904 as a civic organization founded on the legend of Jose Gasparilla and his pirates. The celebration was the idea of George W. Hardee. The first event proved so popular that this celebration has continued to the present, with pirates invading Tampa annually.
