Russell Atkins (b. 1926) was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lives there until this day. He contributes to the poetry scene in his hometown throughout his life. He is involved in both a personal and professional capacity. He began and served as editor for Free Lance, a small press literary journal. He received an honorary doctorate from Cleveland State University, and was also a grant recipient.
