Beck (b. October 2, 1945) served three tours of duty with the Marines during the Vietnam War.

He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1971. He had a career in law enforcement, including being a Sergeant of Police with the Fox Point Police Department (Wisconsin), and eventually settled in Grafton (Wisconsin).
