William Slorach Kerr was born in 1888 in Glasgow. His father Alexander Kerr was a salesman. He attended the University of Glasgow , Scotland from 1906-1915 , taking classes in Latin, Mathematics, English, Logic, Natural Philosophy, Astronomy, Education and Psychology for his MA and Chemistry and Astronomy for his BSc. He won an Ordinary class prize in 1909 in Natural Philosophy and a gained a first class certificate in Physical Laboratory in 1909 He graduated MA with second class honours in Mathematics and Natural Philosophy on 17 November 1910 before going on to complete his BSc on 21 June 1915 and become a headmaster. He died in c1979 .
