Nevada State Mining Inspector
The Office of the Inspector of Mines was created in 1909, the duties of which were "to visit in person each mining county, and examine all such mines therein...for the purpose of determining the condition of such mines as to safety, and to collect information and statistics on mining, and mining resources..., arrange and classify mineral and geological specimens,.. and to establish a uniform code of signals to be applied.
In 1911 the inspector's term which would have expired in 1913, was extended tp 1915, with a provision for election every 4 years.
In 1973 it was abolished as an elected office, and the Statute doing so provided that the Mining Inspector shall be appointed by the Nevada Industrial Commission, and that the Department of Industrial Safety shall have full power, jurisdiction, and authority over all employments.
