Jones, James T., fl. 1819-1869.

James T. Jones lived in New York before sailing for South America on the U.S. Frigate "Raritan" from 1844-46, and he sailed on other ships around South America until after 1850. In 1854-55 he settled in San Francisco (returning again to New York from 1857-69) to engage in various business enterprises. In September of 1869, hoping to regain his health, Jones went to the Owens Valley but died within a few months at Independence, California.
