Gray, Florence

Hide Profile

Florence and her husband B.G. Gray commissioned the Rose Walk (designed by Bernard Maybeck), one of Berkeley's most celebrated pathways, in 1913. After the 1923 Berkeley fire, the Grays commissioned architect Henry Higby Gutterson to create an integrated community of houses on lots bordering the Rose Walk. This was completed in 1936. Both the walk and the community are Berkeley landmarks.
