Jefferson Proving Ground (Ind.)
Jefferson Proving Ground was opened in May 1941 as an ammunition testing facility in Jefferson, Ripley, and Jennings Counties, Ind. Communities located on the testing site were moved, and efforts were made to preserve the history of the area. Charles E. Heberhart and Christopher B. Coleman gathered information especially on churches and schools.
