Born 1915. Received a B.S. degree from the University of Pittsburgh in electrical engineering, 1936. Served as private and corporal in the Pennsylvania National Guard, 1936-1939. Served as 2nd lieutenant through major in the Organized Reserve Corps (1941-1952) and the Pennsylvania National Guard (1952-1962) specializing in signal and artillery operations. Retired from the Pennsylvania National Guard, 1962.
