Hope College. Van Raalte Memorial Committee.
In January 1981, the Trustees of Hope College gave approval for a Van Raalte memorial. It was their feeling that after Van Raalte Hall burned down in April 1980, the campus should have another suitable memorial to Holland's founder, A.C. Van Raalte. The Van Raalte Memorial Committee, appointed by Hope president Gordon Van Wylen, included Willard Wichers, Elton Bruins, Delbert Michel, William Mayer, and John Nordstom, who served as chairperson.
