Parsons, Fred, 1908-1987
Variant namesFred Parsons was born in England in 1908 and emigrated to Australia with his parents when young. He first worked as a copy boy at the Melbourne Herald. He began writing for stage as a hobby in the 1930s and was scriptwriter and stage director at the Tivoli Theatre 1937-1943. From 1940 he wrote for radio and then for television. His scripts were written for the major service comedians of his day. he was particularly associated with Roy Rene and wrote his biography.
