Robert M. Wilson, playwright, director, and scenic designer, was born in Waco, TX, on October 4. He was educated at the University of Texas at Austin and at Pratt Institute in New York. Since 1970, he has been artistic director of the Byrd Hoffman Foundation, Inc. He has received Guggenheim Fellowships in 1971, 1975, and 1980. He won the Vernon Rice Award, for directing, in 1974. He won the Maharam Award and the Lumen Award in 1975 for design.
