South Carolina family. George Paddon Bond Hasell (1781-1818) was born in South Carolina and attended the University of Edinburgh as a medical student. While in Scotland he married Penelope Bentley, and their children included Andrew Hasell (1803-1866) and Bentley Hasell (1807-1836). Bentley Hasell was the father of Lewis Cruger Hasell (1830-1889), a physician and plantation owner of Georgetown County, S.C. Andrew Hasell (1803-1866) was a physician, South Carolina legislator, and plantation owner. He owned Cedar Grove Plantation in All Saints Parish and practiced medicine on plantations along the Waccamaw River. He married his cousin Joanna Weston.
