William R. Buster, Sr., born in Harrodsburg in 1916, served for thirty years with the United States Army. He was awarded many times for his service in Africa and Europe during World War II, and after the war, he was in the Army Reserve and the Kentucky National Guard. After his retirement from the Army, he was active in many organizations and was director of the United Bank and Trust Company, the Home Federal Building and Loan Association, and director of the Kentucky Historical Society.
