Muriel Power was the granddaughter of the Reverend Robert Blain (1797-1871). Blain was licenced to preach in the Presbytery of Belfast, migrated to Australia with J.D. Lang in 1837, and spent most of his working life at Hinton in the Hunter Valley. He made a missionary tour of New England in 1846.
