James Windrow Sweetman was Vice-Principal of the Henry Martyn School of Islamics at Aligarh, and then Professor of Islamics at the Selly Oak College, Birmingham. His publications include: Islam and Christian theology: a study of the interpretation of theological ideas in the two religions (Part 1, volume 1, Preparatory historical survey of the early period Volume 2, The theological position at the close of the period of Christian ascendancy in the Near East . Part 2, Volume 1, Historical survey of the second period Volume 2, Mediaeval scholastic developments (Lutterworth Press, 1945, 1947, 1955, 1967), and The Bible in Islam (British and Foreign Bible Society, 1953). He died in 1966.
