The Rosebud Indian Reservation [Gregory, Tripp, Mellet, and Todd counties, S.D.] was held in trust by the U.S. government for the Sioux [Dakota] Indians. With approval from the Office of Indian Affairs, the land could be sold to non-Sioux.
