Irving, John, of Auchinbedridge
Henry, the third Duke of Buccleuch, succeeded to the title in 1751 as a minor. he was educated at Eton, tutored by Adam Smith, became the first President of the Royal Society of Scotland, and was a close friend of Sir Walter Scott.
