Luptak, Walter J., 1920-1992.
World War II Navy veteran from Chicago, Ill. who attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho to become a radio operator for the Navy. Served aboard the USS YMS 337 and at other posts. Had several brothers and one sister, Anna. Anna, who was still in high school, went to work at Montgomery Ward when their mother became sick. She eventually quit school, but took some night classes and hoped to finish school. Luptak's girlfriend, Jean Leonard, whom he planned to marry, married another man while he was in the service.
