Fahey, Joseph Robert Jr., 1936-2002

Joseph Robert Fahey Jr. was born on July 22, 1936 in Brighton, Massachusetts to parents Joseph Fahey and Mary Regan. Fahey graduated from Boston College High in 1953 and entered the Society of Jesus in 1955. He then attended Boston College, receiving a bachelor of humanities degree in 1960 and a masters degree in philosophy in 1961. Fahey attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to pursue a PhD in economics, which he earned in 1967. Following his ordination into the priesthood in 1968, Fahey served two years as an assistant professor of economics at College of the Holy Cross. He then held the position of dean of academics for the next decade. Fahey was a member of the board of trustees for Boston College from 1972-1979, and was elected vice president of academics and dean of faculties in 1982. From 1988-1998, Fahey was president of Boston College High School. Fahey died on January 16, 2002 at the age of 65.
