Charles Oscar Beers (1834-1910) was the co-founder of the North Carolina Lumber Company, Lake Waccamaw, N.C. Beers was born in Fairfield, Conn., and moved with his family to Oneida County, N.Y., in 1838. In 1857, he began working for the Memphis and Little Rock Railroad. He later started the C. O. Beers and Company lumber works in Wades Point, N.C., and co-founded the North Carolina Lumber Company in 1869.
