Boston, Massachusetts, cotton merchant known to be active during the 1830s and 1840s. Pratt purchased cotton in Southern port cities such as Savannah, New Orleans, Charleston, and Mobile. The bales were then shipped to Boston, where Pratt sold his product to the growing New England textile industry. Pratt also developed a thriving transatlantic business, exporting his cotton to directly to the British market via Liverpool.
