Biographical Note: Francese Hubbard Litchfield Turnbull was a poet and author.

She was born in Utica, New York in 1845 . In 1871, she married attorney, Lawrence Turnbull, and they resided in Baltimore, Md. The Turnbulls gave great support to the professional and personal life of the poet, Sidney Lanier. Mrs. Turnbull arranged tributes to Lanier held at the Johns Hopkins University in 1888 and 1895. She published "The Catholic Man", 1890, in which the chief character is a study of Lanier. Mrs. Turnbull was a founder and president of the Woman's Literary Club of Baltimore. A few of her papers read before the club were later published. Mrs. Turnbull died in 1927.
