Father Joseph E. Kennedy, S.J., was born in Pawtucket, R.I., on April 18, 1912. He was educated at Gonzaga College High School, Washington, D.C., Georgetown University (M.A. 1939) and Columbia University. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1930, studied theology at Woodstock College, Woodstock, Md., and was ordained to the priesthood on June 20, 1943. During 1950-55 Fr. Kennedy taught history at St. Joseph's College, Philadelphia, Pa., and during 1955-74 at Wheeling College in Wheeling, W. Va. From 1975 until 1980 he was associate pastor of the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Baltimore, Md. The last years of Fr. Kennedy's life were spent in the Jesuit Community at Georgetown University. He died in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 28, 1983.
