Expedition to the swamp and forest areas of Paraguay and Brazil to acquire ornithological specimens for the museum.

The expedition, also known as the Roosevelt Expedition of 1916-1917, left in May 1916 and returned 10 months later with 3,000 bird skins, 400 mammal skins and 1,500 photographs. Theodore Roosevelt was the sponsor.
