The Portland and Ogdenburg Railway Company was chartered as the Portland and Ogdenburg Railroad Company in 1867; it was placed in receivership in 1884, and reorganized as the Portland and Ogdenburg Railway Company in 1886; it was leased to Maine Central Railroad in 1888, and purchased in 1943.
