Portland Monument Ground (Organization)
Variant namesOrganization founded by Lemuel Moody in 1807 to build an observatory with a telescope on the highest hill in Portland, Me., which was known as the Portland Observatory, and used to view and signal vessels entering and leaving the harbor; also known as Portland Monument Ground Association.
