Schwartz was Ezra Meeker's secretary when Meeker served as the Oregon Trail Memorial Association's President. Continued to serve as secretary after Meeker's death in 1928. Received correspondence from William Henry Jackson in 1929 when Jackson directed historical research for the Association, travelling to various sites along the Oregon Trail. Jackson had been a photographer for the Hayden Survey in the 1870s and traveled extensively in the west, keeping notes and sketches of his trips.
