The Nev. branch of the American Civil Liberties Union was organized in 1966 although there were individuals in the state who were active in the national organization during the 1920s and 1930s. The ACLU is dedicated to maintaining and advancing civil liberties, including freedoms of association, press, religion, and speech; and the equal protection of the laws for all people. The Nev. chapter is divided into the northern Nev. and southern Nev. chapters.
