Robert Morris was born in England, but at thirteen he went to live with his father in Chesapeake. He originally voted against the Declaration of Independence, but eventually signed it in August. He became a major a financier of the American Revolution. After the war he participated in the framing of the Constitution and served as a Senator from Pennsylvania from 1789-1795.
