Rev. David Gardiner Phillips was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on 1 February 1817. He graduated from Erskine College of Due West, South Carolina and moved to Louisville, Georgia where he was a distinguished clergyman of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian church. He first married Mary Isabella Hearst in 1849 and they had one child, John Hearst Philips, who was less than one month old when he died on 16 March 1851. Mary died on 28 February 1851, three days after John's birth on 25 February. David then married Julia E.W.A. Little (1835-1883) and they had eight children: William Little (1857-1937), Mary Eloise (1860-1925), Martha (1862-1943), David Gardiner (1865-1935), Julia Frances (1867-1943), John Robert (1869-1940), Lois Eugenia (1872-1947), and Enoch Bothwell (1876-1946). David died in 1899 in Louisville, Georgia. Judge William Little Phillips was the son of Rev. David Gardiner Phillips. He was born in Louisville, Georgia on 3 June 1857. On 12 December 1881 he married Ella Skinner who died in 1890 and later married Lena Everett. He was an attorney and affiliated with the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. William also served three terms as Mayor of Louisville, twelve years as county solicitor, and was appointed the Judge of the City Court of Louisville in 1911 by Governor Brown. He died 19 October 1937 in Louisville.
