Conrad Kohrs Warren was the grandson of Conrad Kohrs (1835-1920), one of the original owners of the ranch. Conrad K. Warren took over the operation of the ranch in 1932, and raised Belgian horses and purebred Hereford cattle. When he first started working the ranch it was known as the Conrad Kohrs Company Ranch and under the management of the Conrad Kohrs Company based in Helena, Mont. When he purchased the ranch in the 1940s, he changed the name to the Warren Hereford Ranch and then it was known just as the Warren Ranch after the dispersion of the purebred Herefords in 1958. Conrad K. Warren was involved in ranching all of his life until his retirement, at which time he sold his ranch to the National Park Service in 1972 and 1988 (the bulk of the land was purchased on the latter date bringing the total purchase to approximately 1500 acres). He was president of the Monatana Stockgrowers Association from 1950 to 1952 and a member of several Hereford associations. He published his grandfather's autobiography, "Conrad Kohrs: An Autobiography" in 1977.
